I came home today to a great surprise.

The Learn and Master Guitar Home Study Course that I ordered just arrived on my doorstep!

I took it in the house, and opened it up on video – so you, too, can see exactly what you get when you order this guitar lesson home-study course.

In summary:  This looks amazing.  Just the packaging alone shows that the Learn and Master Guitar system is thorough.  Really – it’s a hefty package filled with DVD’s, CD’s and a big workbook.

I’m going to get started right away, and report back to you soon!

You really should consider buying this course, too.  It will last a lifetime, and costs less than a month or two of private guitar lessons.

Honestly – nothing but rave reviews for this product.

I just ordered my copy, and I can’t wait to give you my full evaluation, review and real-life progress that I’m making as a result of owning this course.

I should be receiving it in the mail by mid next week.

I’m so excited!

Now, I really can finally learn how to play guitar.

I’m really looking forward to the 20 full-length DVD’s.  They’re organized as 20 complete sessions, containing all the files I need for each.  Also, I’m getting the 108-page workbook and their member’s forum access.

After I’ve learned a few chords, I can’t wait to play along with the 110 “active” jam tracks.  These jam tracks come on 5 CD’s and I’ll definitely be starting with an easy one — but, playing along with a song that’s designed to help me practice and have fun is quite intriguing.  I can’t wait.

My review of their product is based on some extensive research that I’ve done so far online, and by talking with two of my friends who’ve purchased the course.

I’ll update the review with my personal experience with the actual product as soon as possible.

Online Guitar Lessons

I have made a decision.

In my quest to learn how to play the acoustic guitar, I have decided that I will learn by purchasing at least one home study course, or online training course.

I will NOT be taking any private lessons.  (Nor will I be paying the $30 – $50 for each lesson.)

Nope.  I’m not going to go the traditional route.

I’m not going to schedule a weekly appointment with a private tutor, on every Wednesday at 6 PM.  Not again.

I’ve done that before.  (Well, I did it for 6 lessons total.  I paid for 6 lessons, but only attended 5.  I had to cancel one at the last minute, but still owed the guy his $30.)

With my hectic and unpredictable schedule, and my tendency to “go all out for a while” and “take some time off for a while”, I cannot do regularly scheduled classes.

Also, in this economy, I want to be prudent with my money.

I have decided that I will pay once for a good product (or two), that I will own for the rest of my life, and that I can use at my leisure, on my schedule, and at the pace I want to set for myself.

I’ve heard really good things about the Learn and Master Guitar course, and I will be purchasing it in the next couple of days.

With my ADD-like personality, I’m sure I’ll check out other home-study courses to teach myself guitar.  And, when I do so, I’ll be sure to document it here, and report back to you.

I’ve been trying, unsuccessfully, over the last 10 years or so, to teach myself guitar.

Instead of using a comprehensive home-study course, I’ve made many small purchases of various guitar lesson books and videos, song books, reference tools and training equipment.

With all of these purchases, you’d think that I’d be a master guitar player by now.

…but, no.  I’m not.  I’m not good at all.  In fact, I still suck at guitar.

I thought that it would be helpful to you, and therepuetic to me, to share some of the accumulated guitar training and guitar teaching tools that I’ve purchased over the years, in my endeavor to teach myself how to play the acoustic guitar.

With any luck, you won’t make the same mistakes that I’ve made.  Or, perhaps some components of my “self taught guitar training arsenal” may be useful to you, in your own endeavor to teach yourself how to play guitar.

Either way, I now disclose some embarrassment, in my collection of guitar training tools and books that I have purchased over the years.

This is a much higher quality guitar than the one I own!

I bought my first guitar over 10 years ago.

It was relatively inexpensive (about $100) and worked just fine.

Within a year or two, my son – a toddler at the time – decided that he’d accidentally drop something heavy on the neck of the guitar.  ( I don’t remember what it was.  I just know it was smashed! )

So, with the neck of the guitar smashed, I went out to buy a replacement.

What guitar to buy next?

When I went into my local Guitar Center store, I saw the same huge inventory of expensive guitars, and mid-priced guitars.

…and I saw my first guitar, with that low $100 price tag.

There was nothing wrong with that “starter guitar” – until the neck got smashed, of course.  So, I decided I would buy the exact same guitar.  (Why spend the extra money?  I’m not playing in a band, or recording awesome live music, right?  I just need a guitar that sounds good.)

So, I re-bought my first guitar.

I’ve had it ever since, and I’m still very happy with it.
