About
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar.
I don’t want to be a rockstar. And, at this point, I don’t see myself ever playing electric guitar or cool rock songs. That’s just not really me.
I do, however, want to be pretty good at the acoustic guitar. I want to learn how to play a wide range of chords, to sing along to a song. And, later, I’d like to learn how to pick a melody with individual strings.
Now, I don’t expect that I’ll ever be able to play anything like James Taylor, but I sure would love to know how to play at least a couple of his songs!
I’ve tried this before – but never stuck to it.
Yep. Over the last 10 or 12 years, I bought a guitar or two, a couple of music books, a chord handbook, and I’ve tried learning a few chords, and a couple of songs.
…but, I would go in spurts.
I’d learn a couple of things in a month or two, then I’d set the guitar down again for a year — just to come back to it a year later, finding that I’ve only retained how to play the C, G and D chords!
Ugh.
So, now, I’m committing to learning how to play the acoustic guitar.
And, to keep me committed to it — I’m going to share my experiences with you. That way, if I haven’t put up a video in a month or so, anyone who’s checking up on my progress can call me out on my laziness. Then, out of shame and embarrassment, I suspect that I’ll get back to it, so I never get called out again.
So, there it is.
I am going to learn how to play the guitar.
Well, here goes!
